Valley Forge Beer Festival This Saturday

The clock is ticking and if you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, now is a VERY good time. The Valley Forge Beer Fest is THIS Saturday and features breweries from all over the globe! Rogue, Magic Hat, Sly Fox, these are just a few of the breweries on the scene. You can find the full list by clicking here.

More than 70 breweries will be filling the Expo Center, serving up samples of their proudest brewing achievements—more than 100 beers in all. And for those that have looked at the list, fear not, all breweries featured at the Event are available for purchase in the state of PA. So if you find something new you like or that stands out, it’s available, it just might be a hard find. You might find yourself becoming quite the Beer Hunter after this Event.

Also feel free to bring a bag that day to collect hand outs or trinkets from some of the breweries. Having a bag to hold some souvenirs or keepsakes from the breweries might help you remember the name of that brew you had at the start of the Event. There’s going to be 50 breweries and over a 100 brews. It might become hard to keep track of them all. Just know, all bags will be checked upon entry.

The Valley Forge Beer Festival will have two sessions: 12:30-4:00pm and 5:30-9:00pm. A limited number of tickets will be sold. Once the event sells out, no additional tickets will be available for purchase. And word on the street is, this event WILL sell out. SO purchase them while they’re still available. Only $40 if you order them online today or $60 at the door.

Tickets include admission to the festival, a souvenir tasting glass, an opportunity to attend the event’s programming and the freedom to enjoy a 2 oz. sample of any of the beers at the festival. Designated driver tickets are $10 each. Of course, no one under 21, including designated drivers, will be admitted and all attendees must show valid photo ID for entry. Food will be available for sale.

The event is produced by Starfish Junction and BeerHeads.com, producers of the award-winning Philly Craft Beer Festival, named one of the “Top 10 Beer Festivals in America” by Forbes Traveler and honored by Philly Beer Scene Magazine as the Best Beer Fest of 2011. The event is sponsored in part by www.PhillyBeerEvents.com, Philly’s local beer calendar.

Star Junction will be back in Philly for the 6th annual, award-winning Philly Craft Beer Festival. This one sells out weeks in advance. Consumers are encouraged to sign up for local beer alerts at www.phillybeerevents.com to be among the first to find out when tickets go on sale for this show. They’ll also be launching their successful Coffee And Tea Festival NYC in Philly in 2012.

Snob or Beer Fans in general, this event is for you. From the response we’re seeing, let’s hope for another one next year! In the meantime, mark your calendars and we hope to see you there!

Harpoon Winter Warmer

Harpoon Winter Warmer

Harpoon Winter Warmer

I asked which of the Winter brews I should try at Bistro. This is what they recommended and it’s pretty good!

If you looked this one up for reviews for the Harpoon Winter Warmer, don’t believe everything you read. I had this tonight to kick off the season of winter brews, and this deserves higher than a C or D.

Right off the bat, this pours a nice amber color.

Take a whiff. Very sweet. Spicy. It’s a solid winter brew, so I expect some nutmeg and spice. If it’s obvious in the nostrils, well, it’s bound to invade my tongue.

Yep. This has a nice spice factor combined with nutmeg and cinnamon. Very well balanced I might add. Not obnoxious or in your face. It’s light on the carbonation, so the spices don’t burn on the way down. Very smooth and drinkable brew. I’m all set for winter, the sweets, cookies, baking, the whole nine years that come with the holidays. I’ll knock back a few Winter Warmers in the process.

You can find this one at the Bistro on Bridge in Phoenixville, PA.

Halloween….in November??

No Trick here. Club 212 is hosting a post Halloween Party November 5 due to the snow storm that happened last weekend.

The snow storm that no one saw coming caused a number of power outages and some of those included the bar scene in downtown Phoenixville. Half the block was out of power, including Franco Ristorante, PJ Ryans & Molly Maguires. All of whom were set for lots of Halloween Festivities!

So, to keep the Halloween spirit alive, Club 212 is going to keep their tradition and have it in November.

Same Party, Different Day.

And do not fear, everyones’ favorite DJs will also be there, Koolie Kirk & Blood Hound Gang’s Q-Ball.

Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

The was exactly what I needed last night after stuffing my face at a wedding. I know I wanted a beer, but nothing hoppy, carbonated or bitter. Something smooth, sweet and what I got was the Breckenridge Vanilla Porter, on tap at the Bistro on Bridge.

Now, this would have not been my first choice, but given the circumstances, it hit the spot. Exactly what my evening needed. And my stomach thanks you as well, Breckenridge Vanilla.

This brew pours black to signify the roasted malts. Nice layer of white head across the top. Smells sweet with a combination of roasted malts, vanilla and caramel.

Though, I couldn’t find it towards the end of the pint, I definitely could taste the vanilla upfront in the beginning as well as roasted malts and coffee.

It was an all around smooth beer. Nice. Light. Pretty good. Nothing amazing, but very drinkable. I’d have it again. Some nights call for a nice porter.
