Leinenkugel Oktoberfest

By FlannelGuy

This is by far the lightest variety of Oktoberfest I’ve had thus so far. I can hone in on all Oktoberfest characteristics: malt, sweetness, toffee, caramel, but they’re very bland. I mean, I’ve tasted Oktoberfest styles that were as sweet as they come, heavy on the malts or crisp on the finish. This, well..it’s spicy, I’ll give it that. And upfront, it looks like any Oktoberfest I sampled. But this is watered down Oktoberfest, folks. The components are there, but barely.  No body whatsoever.

I’m shocked because I dig Leinenkugel, but wow, did they get it wrong with their Oktoberfest. So happy I didn’t start the season with this because this doesn’t get me excited at all for the Oktoberfest season. It’s drinkable, but for me, it’s too disappointing to have another. I can only imagine if I did a full day of sampling, I’d think this was flavored water.

This is another one of those safe bet beers, but too safe if you’d ask me.
